This is only the first concept, but I have been playing about with an idea for a new book cover. I am getting close to being able to re-launch my short story collection. I am in the process of re-editing it, and adding a few extra stories.
Your opinions mean a lot to me, so tell me, what do you think about the cover image? Could it work?
I like the concept but shouldn’t you show something abnormal about that brain?
That seems to be the general consensus. I will have to make a few changes and post a second draft for you

It’s a good idea, but I agree that perhaps you need something on the brain to catch the reader’s attention. Also, the hospital writing would have to be toned down so it doesn’t confuse the book and author title.
Thanks Catherine, the text on the edges and also the title and author name need to be removed and enlarged… in that order
I will try and get another draft worked up this week or so.
